B.S. Chemical Engineering, Carnegie Institute of Technology Experience Howard W. Pifer III, Senior Advisor, specializes in rigorous analysis of corporate strategies and public policies. Dr. Pifer concentrates his work in the areas of energy, metals, competition, and litigation. He has testified before both houses of the U.S. Congress; U.S. federal and state courts; federal and state regulatory agencies in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom; and arbitration panels. Dr. Pifer has advised senior management, boards of directors, and governments in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Spain, and the United Kingdom, as well as throughout the United States. During the 1990s, Dr. Pifer served as chairman of the board of directors of Putnam, Hayes and Bartlett (PHB), having previously served as PHB’s president and chief executive officer for 15 years. Prior to founding PHB in 1976, Dr. Pifer was a faculty member of Harvard Business School, where he taught courses in managerial economics, management science, finance, public policy, and strategic planning.
