Smoot Professor of Economics at Brigham Young University. He specializes in applied microeconomics, industrial organization, and public policy. His areas of expertise include public policy analysis, the economics of antitrust, regulation, intellectual property, economic damages, and trade policy. While a White House fellow, he served as a special assistant to the secretary of defense and to the US trade representative. He has also served on the US Census Advisory Committee on Population Statistics.
