Pfizer Inc. achieves merger control clearances for Pharmacia acquisition

Pfizer Inc. has announced that the US Federal Trade Commission has completed its review of Pfizer's acquisition of Pharmacia, with formal approval and closing of the $60 billion transaction expected in the course of April. This follows the European Commission's conditional clearance of the transaction in February of this year.

The transaction affected markets for a variety of human and animal health products. We worked as economic advisers to Pfizer Inc. in relation to this transaction throughout the EU and US merger control procedures
