We are happy to announce that Professor Frank Verboven is an Academic Associate as of 1 March 2005. Professor Verboven, from the Catholic University of Leuven, is a specialist in applied industrial economics and an editor of the Journal of Industrial Economics. He is currently part of the Economic Advisory Group of the Chief Economist Team at DG Comp.
Professor Verboven is the author of numerous papers on industrial organisation and competition economics in peer-reviewed international academic publications including the Rand Journal of Economics, Economic Policy and the Review of Economic Studies. Over the last few years, Professor Verboven has worked on a number of competition enquiries for parties such as Interbrew, Aventis and Belgacom. He has also contributed to a number of policy reports, including a study for the European Commission on the assessment of efficiencies in mergers (together with the current Chief Economist, Professor Röller, and Dr. Johan Stennek).
