Commission asks FTA and cable broadcasters in Italy to repay the unlawful digital decoder subsidies they received

The European Commission has concluded that the subsidies for digital decoders in Italy were not technologically-neutral and has therefore asked the FTA and cable operators that benefited from them to repay them. Dr Andrea Coscelli provided economic advice to Sky Italia who complained to the European Commission that the digital decoder subsides were unlawful and unfairly benefited its main rivals in the Italian television market.
