On 17 November 2010 after an in-depth investigation the European Commission cleared the acquisition by Unilever of the Sara Lee Household and Body Care business, subject to the divestment of Sara Lee's Sanex brand to resolve the horizontal overlap in the market for deodorants in a number of European countries. The Commission also investigated horizontal overlaps in the supply of various other personal care and laundry products in a number of EU countries, but found that no serious competition concerns would arise in these markets as a result of the transaction.
A CRA team including Cristina Caffarra, Ian Small, Diana Jackson and Daniel Donath advised Unilever throughout the pre-notification period and the Commission's investigation.
See Commission Press Release for further details.
