Dr. Giulio Federico, Senior Consultant, has advised several clients on competition matters in sectors ranging from electricity and gas to telecoms, pay-TV, and security exchanges. Dr. Federico has worked on several merger cases, including Ryanair/Aer Lingus, Telkom/BCX, Essent/Nuon, GDF/Suez, Sonaecom/PT, Gas Natural/Endesa, EDP/GDP (CFI Appeal), Deutsche Borse/Euronext/LSE, and Oracle/PeopleSoft. He has also been involved in various Article 81 and 82 cases, including one of the latest Article 82 rebates case before the European Commission (Tomra). He has particular expertise in competition and regulation in the energy and telecommunications markets, and has provided extensive economic advice to both private companies and governments in these sectors on acquisitions, dominance and market design. He has presented before several competition authorities, including the Competition Commission in the UK, and the Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and South African competition authorities. He is a faculty member at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, and a Policy Research Fellow at IESE Business School.
