Kris Swanson, a member of the planning committee, will be a panelist on the topic of “Asset Forfeiture and Freeze Orders: Everything You and John Oliver Need to Know.” The DOJ, SEC, FTC, and other agencies are increasingly aggressive in seeking freeze orders and asset forfeitures. Not only have they sought forfeiture in cases involving investment fraud, insider trading, and health care fraud, but also in intellectual property cases involving domain names and the trademarked patch of a California motorcycle gang. The panel will review some of the recent cases and trends in this area, and will consider strategies to deal with these issues.
