Margaret Sanderson

Her experience spans a wide range of industries such as telecommunications, media, rail and other transportation industries, financial services, consumer products, and healthcare.

Ms. Sanderson has provided expert testimony before Canadian courts, regulatory authorities, and arbitration panels, including the Federal Court of Canada, provincial courts in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia, the Competition Tribunal, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, and numerous commercial and final offer arbitration panels. She has also appeared before the US Federal Trade Commission and provided expert analysis in US federal court proceedings.

Prior to joining CRA, Ms. Sanderson held senior leadership positions at the Canadian Competition Bureau, including Assistant Deputy Director of Investigation and Research and Chief of the Enforcement Economics Division. She directed economic analysis for merger reviews, competition investigations, litigation, regulatory interventions, and competition policy initiatives involving spectrum auctions, electricity deregulation, and transportation regulation.

Ms. Sanderson has published extensively on merger analysis, efficiencies, market definition, class certification, price fixing, regulated industries, and Canadian competition policy. She has also taught courses and presented on antitrust and competition economics, merger review, monopsony, telecommunications regulation, and the use of economic evidence in competition and regulatory matters.
