Stan Garnett

Stan Garnett is an independent energy consultant who currently heads Garnett Consulting Group, Inc. In prior positions, he was a partner with PA Consulting Group, executive vice president of Florida Progress Corporation (FPC), and senior vice president and chief financial officer at Allegheny Power System, Inc. (APS). From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Garnett was a senior member of the energy practice at PA Consulting (and its predecessor firms, Putnam Hayes & Bartlett and PHB Hagler Bailly). During his time with FPC (1997 to 1998), he supervised the firm’s financial, legal, human relations, corporate development, and merger & acquisition staffs. While at APS (1981 to 1995), Mr. Garnett was responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising the financial structure and activities of this $5 billion electricity system. In addition, he managed the company’s M&A strategy, the operations of its legal and investment banking departments, and the activities of economic and other consultants. Mr. Garnett also acted as the company’s principal contact for most federal legislative and regulatory matters.
