CRA Vice President Geoffrey Senogles will participate in the The Expert in the International Adjudicative Process Symposium hosted by the Max Planck Institute. Mr. Senogles will join a panel discussion titled "The adversarial principle and production of expert evidence: the cornerstone of ‘expertise’" and discuss:

  • Procedures involved in the conduct of an expert’s operations after appointment;
  • Extent of involvement of parties in an expert’s work, whether party-appointed or tribunal-appointed, including the possibility to comment on draft and final reports;
  • Form, content and notification of expert’s provisional and final report, including definition of terms of reference, disclosure of instructions from parties; and
  • Oral interaction with experts: including traditional methods such as cross-examination (and rules governing them) as well as modern methods such as expert conferencing; absence of such oral interaction in the case of ‘ghost experts’.
