Maarten Pieter Schinkel is Professor of Economics at the University of Amsterdam and Co-Director of the Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics (ACLE).
His research interests and teaching span industrial organization theory and empirics, the enforcement of competition law, and the economics of information. His recent papers consider, among other things, forensic economics, cartel detection, Type I and Type II errors in antitrust enforcement, optimal sanctions, leniency, European competition law enforcement, private antitrust damages, and efficiencies in merger control. He has advised clients and competition authorities in antitrust matters and merger cases. Dr. Schinkel is a CEPR Research Affiliate. He has published his work in Dutch, as well as in international journals, including the European Economic Review, the Journal of Mathematical Economics, History of Political Economy, theJournal of Industrial Economics, the International Journal of Industrial Organization, the Journal of Regulatory Economics, Journal of Competition Law and Economics, World Competition, and theEuropean Competition Law Review.
