2. Set A Timeline, Stick to It: Most often, it’s best to submit your application as soon as possible. So set a deadline for when to submit your materials (we recommend 5-7 days from when you find the opportunity), and backwards plan the steps you’ll need to take to achieve your goal.
3. Connect the Dots: Some internships require specific academic, extracurricular, and/or professional experience. Be sure to connect the dots in your resume and cover letter—showing how your experience matches what they’re looking for. Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all perfect internship; the best internship for you will be the one where there is alignment between what the company needs and what you find an enjoyable use of your strengths.

Make sure the first impression you convey is polished, professional, and attentive to detail—particularly if the role requires those skills.
