1. Narrow Your Search: Having trouble choosing internships to apply for? Try searching for an internship based location and academic interest—challenge your curiosity!
2. Set A Timeline, Stick To It: Most often, it’s best to submit your application as soon as possible. So set a deadline for when to submit your materials (we recommend 5-7 days from when you find the opportunity), and backwards plan the steps you’ll need to take to achieve your goal.
3. Connect the Dots: Some internships require specific academic, extracurricular, and/or professional experience. Be sure to connect the dots in your resume and cover letter—showing how your experience matches what they’re looking for.
4. Best Effort, Not Perfect: Don’t get bogged down in the process of crafting the perfect resume and cover letter. Instead, put forth your best effort, leverage resources from your school’s careers center, and turn in your materials as soon as possible.
