Mr. Milinda (Billy) Muttiah is an Associate Principal in the Life Science Practice with more than 20 years of experience at Charles River Associates.

Mr. Muttiah has worked on a broad range of cases involving securities litigation, international arbitration, contract disputes, tax litigation, business valuation and management consulting. He has supported experts and counsel on all phases of the litigation process, including class certification, discovery, materiality, loss causation, damages, expert report preparation, and deposition and trial support. Similarly he has supported experts and counsel in various phases of arbitration proceedings.

Mr. Muttiah has extensive experience in valuation of asset portfolios, equity, debt, and derivatives instruments that frequently involve data-intensive analyses. He is proficient in financial and business modeling, market multiple analysis, financial statement analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, fixed income analysis, option pricing, and risk analysis. He has also advised companies on mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring activities. In the life sciences sector, he has assessed damages in commercial disputes related breach of contracts. His work spans across multiple industries including, life sciences, pharmaceutical, financial markets, commercial and investment banks, financial institutions, metals and mining, chemicals, oil and gas, electricity, renewable energy, and manufacturing.

Mr. Muttiah’s project work includes:

  • Assisted in estimating lost profit damages for settlement negotiations for a dispute arising out of alleged failure to use commercial reasonable efforts to launch and market a pharmaceutical product in the US.
  • Assisted in estimating damages from unjust enrichment for a dispute arising out of breach of licensing contracts. Damages estimates were based on the valuation of investments in Life Sciences companies, calculated through market transactions and ownership stakes in the companies.
