Mark DeFond

Senior Consultant to CRA

Mark DeFond is the Joseph A. DeBell Professor of Business Administration at the Marshall School of Business and Professor in the Leventhal School of Accounting. Professor DeFond is an expert in financial accounting, financial reporting, auditing, international accounting and auditing, executive performance evaluation, earnings management, GAAP and GAAS, and global markets—specifically those of China and the Asia Pacific region.

He has published work in many notable accounting journals and has given presentations at major conferences and academic institutions throughout the world. Professor DeFond is a recipient of the Notable Contribution to Auditing Literature Award, and his research on auditor independence is cited in the Congressional Record during the debates leading up to passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
