Robert Gallamore

Senior Consultant to CRA

Robert Gallamore is a nationally known expert in railroad economics. He has had a distinguished railroad career spanning senior management positions in government, industry, and academia.

An experienced consultant to both private and public sector clients, he previously served as director of the Transportation Center and Professor of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Prior to joining Northwestern University in 2001, Dr. Gallamore served as general director of strategic analysis for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha and as an executive with UP Corporation in New York City, where he worked on a variety of merger and acquisition studies, infrastructure and technology assessments, and long range strategic plans and forecasts. He also served previously as deputy administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration, in which capacity he led the Executive Branch development of recommendations for railroad deregulation and revitalization that eventually became the Staggers Act. While at FRA, he was awarded one of the first Senior Executive Service Awards by President Carter. His dissertation on railroad mergers remains a standard reference.
