Economic advice to Shell in relation to Alitalia’s follow-on damage claim in the Italian jet-fuel cartel. CRA assisted Shell in rebutting Alitalia’s damage estimation report. CRA showed that the information exchange between jet-fuel suppliers had no effect on prices. Most importantly, after collecting evidence on Alitalia’s pricing practices, CRA was able to show that airlines, including Alitalia, completely passed-on any jet-fuel cost change through a fuel-surcharge that was explicitly mentioned on the airplane ticket.
