A major producer of aluminum wanted to identify opportunities in the automotive structural components businesses. During the project, the team analyzed specific automotive components, their alternate manufacturing materials (aluminum, ADI, cast iron, carbon steel, etc.) and processes (castings, forgings, etc.), the preferences of OEMs for the variations in performance of these parts, and then projected the outlook for the use of aluminum forgings or castings in automotive structural parts.
