System design analysis: Under the direction of counsel for the data analytics company, we analyzed technical specifications related to the data processing pipeline involving the software in question, including how the pipeline evolved over time.
Data analytics: We analyzed extensive multi-year data on hour-by-hour CPU load across the relevant systems to assess the marginal benefit the data analytics company may have received from allegedly using CPU cores beyond the license limit.
Expert reports: Our expert wrote and submitted two reports presenting his findings in a clear manner, enabling the judge and clerk to understand and contextualize the technical issues within the broader context of the dispute. The expert reports explained how the software in question fit into the larger data processing pipeline and provided an analysis of the types and number of files the software did and did not process across different time periods.
