Challenge:

We were engaged by the law firm after discovering that a former partner had been secretly recording meetings on her personal iPhone without authorization. CRA Forensic Services professionals were retained to conduct a comprehensive forensic examination of multiple devices, comprising over 4 terabytes (TB) of information, including the former partner’s work and personal laptops, personal iPhone, and associated cloud storage and email accounts, to identify any confidential or proprietary information that had been stored, copied, or transmitted. The client relied upon our deep technical knowledge and experience in conducting complex forensic examinations while developing and leveraging our forensic protocol to uncover the data being hidden by the former partner.

CRA approach:

Our team conducted a thorough forensic review, uncovering several thousand confidential documents and audio recordings. In addition, we assisted in developing and implementing a bespoke and robust forensic protocol to guide the collection, searching, reporting, and remediation of devices containing sensitive information. The investigation further identified an undisclosed cloud storage account and multiple USB data storage devices containing confidential materials that had not been disclosed during initial litigation.

Client impact:

Throughout the engagement, CRA professionals demonstrated exceptional responsiveness and technical expertise, leveraging the full capabilities of our team from staff to vice president. Our approach combined meticulous attention to detail with practical recommendations, facilitating that the client could manage sensitive data effectively while safeguarding organizational and legal interests. The process was conducted efficiently, providing actionable insights while minimizing disruption and cost to the client.
