A new study led by Dr. Oliver Stover examines the contribution of offshore wind to system reliability, affordability, and sustainability in NYISO and ISO-NE under evolving load and resource conditions. Using integrated production cost and loss of load modeling, the analysis evaluates how offshore wind performs during periods of system stress, interacts with other generation and transmission resources, and influences grid outcomes as electrification and winter demand increase.
In this webinar, Dr. Stover will present the study’s integrated resource-planning methods and findings. The discussion will review how generator portfolios that included offshore wind compared with alternative resource mixes in balancing reliability, affordability, and sustainability objectives across the Northeast.
