Alan Friedman has advised CRA on financing, mergers and acquisitions, troubled company matters, securities and business valuations, performed internal investigations, assessed ‘ability to pay’ for commercial and government entities, and analyzed claims for economic loss.

He has significant experience directing assignments on damages in complex commercial litigations and regulatory actions. He has led project teams to assess damages in cases brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission, and implemented formal plans to compensate harmed investors in investment funds in the United States and Canada based on reduced investment returns.  He has led teams of experts to analyze intercompany loan transactions on behalf of government taxation authorities, consulted on matters involving complex securities, charges of market manipulation, activities related to company failure, intellectual property, contract breach, and fraud.

He has performed research in conjunction with leading academics, including issues related to investment fund returns, transaction costs, and expenses.  He has spoken and written on the subject of damages and the equitable distribution of shareholder compensation in late trading and market timing cases, and has been quoted in leading business publications on this subject.

Mr. Friedman has over 25 years of experience computing damages in complex litigation matters, and has testified on numerous occasions in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and mediations.
