Emma Nicholson is a principal in the Energy practice. She is an energy economist with extensive regulatory and consulting experience.
Her expertise lies in evaluating wholesale electricity market designs and estimating the impacts of existing and proposed Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) and Independent System Operator (ISO) market rules on market outcomes. She supports clients on matters related to RTO/ISO markets and market design, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) policy and precedent, capacity markets and accreditation, resource adequacy, and transmission planning.
Prior to joining CRA, Emma was the Senior Economic Advisor to FERC’s Office of Energy Policy and Innovation. Emma has a BA in Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park and an MA and PhD in Economics from Georgetown University.
