Steven Tadelis

Steven Tadelis is a senior consultant and Professor of Economics, Business and Public Policy, and the Sarin Chair in Leadership and Strategy at the Haas School of Business, the University of California, Berkeley.
Professor Tadelis is an expert in the economic and statistical analysis of a wide range of industrial organization and microeconomics topics, including the economics of the internet and the ecommerce industry, digital advertising, algorithmic pricing, digital platforms, drip pricing, marketing strategies, pricing and fee-setting, contract theory, game theory, and strategic sourcing. He has published extensively on these topics, with over 40 academic articles, book chapters and invited papers, plus two books on game theory and microeconomic theory.
Professor Tadelis has held senior leadership positions while on leave from the Haas School of Business at eBay Research Labs and at Amazon. In these roles, he led teams of research economists focused on the economics of e-commerce and applied economics and data science to optimize operations, pricing and cost allocations. Professor Tadelis also advises marketplace startups on market design, pricing, customer growth, trust and safety, and consumer behavior analyses.
His unique combination of exceptional academic scholarship and Big Tech experience makes Professor Tadelis a sought-after testifying expert. He has testified and been deposed in numerous high profile antitrust cases, including several trial testimonies before juries, in the United States and Canada. Professor Tadelis has also provided regulatory testimony at Federal Trade Commission hearings on platform competition.
