Working on computer

Client issue:

A labor dispute arose concerning the implementation of a statutory compensation program under a series of collective bargaining agreements. The matter involved competing interpretations of the statute, and disagreement regarding the resulting implications for employee compensation.

CRA approach:

CRA’s Labor & Employment experts assisted counsel for a large public school district by evaluating competing interpretations of the statute and analyzing their implications for employee compensation. The team conducted a detailed examination of collective bargaining agreements, compensation systems, payroll records, personnel data, and statutory requirements. They developed employee-level compensation and damages models using extensive payroll and personnel data, and supported expert report preparation and litigation strategy.

Client impact:

The CRA experts quantified the pay differences associated with competing interpretations of the statute, providing counsel with rigorous economic analysis to support the district’s position. The engagement combined labor economics, compensation analysis, and collective bargaining expertise to address complex statutory and contractual issues. The court ultimately entered judgement in favor of the school district.
