- Situation: Major oil and gas company wanted to begin thinking systematically about investment opportunities across the hydrogen value chain. The client engaged CRA’s energy consultants to take a deep-dive into opportunities related to hydrogen production, storage, and consumption.
- Approach: CRA’s team provided primers on: (i) the utilization of hydrogen to produce electric power, which included an introduction to economic and regulatory issues in the electric power sector, (ii) global ammonia and methanol markets, and (iii) commercial structures to extract value from hydrogen storage leveraging existing assets within the US Gulf Coast.
- Impact: This work informed the client’s broader understanding of the hydrogen sector and opportunities within the sector – findings were ultimately leveraged as the client developed their overall hydrogen strategy.
