CRA was retained by NewPage, a major producer of coated printing and magazine paper, to assist in securing antitrust clearance from US and Canadian authorities for NewPage’s proposed acquisition of Stora Enso Oyj’s North American paper manufacturing operations. CRA’s economists assisted NewPage by developing economic arguments and preparing empirical analyses to demonstrate that the transaction would not affect competition in North American paper markets. The merger was allowed to proceed with no divestitures.
