Christopher Gerardi developed an estimate of economic damages arising from alleged infringement of multiple patented technologies on behalf of several major securities exchanges. The alleged patent infringement related to systems and methods for providing accelerated transmissions of broadcast data using data compression and decompression using a combination of content-independent and content-dependent data compression. When addressing the technology factor, Mr. Gerardi looked into market data participants’ latency and bandwidth, and the entities which provide the market data that is disseminated as a collective feed out to that feed’s vendors and subscribers.
