Energy Consulting for Project Developers & IPPs

CRA’s Energy Practice supports project developers and independent power producers navigate increasingly complex power markets, transmission constraints, regulatory requirements, and commercial structures to develop, finance, and optimize energy assets.

Developing a successful power project increasingly requires more than identifying an attractive market or technology. Developers must understand where capacity is needed, whether the transmission system can accommodate it, how market and regulatory rules may evolve, what revenues an asset can realistically capture, and how those risks will be viewed by investors, lenders, utilities, and other counterparties.

CRA brings together deep expertise in power markets, transmission and interconnection, market design, regulatory economics, commercial strategy, and project finance to address these questions. We support renewable, thermal, storage, hybrid, and emerging-technology projects from early-stage market screening and site selection through interconnection, contracting, financing, development, and operations.

Our work combines rigorous market and system modeling with practical commercial and regulatory insight. We help clients identify attractive opportunities, assess project economics and risks, navigate market and regulatory processes, structure transactions and contracts, and make better investment decisions in rapidly changing energy markets.
