Infertility affects more than 17% of people of reproductive age globally, yet access to Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) remains uneven and often out of reach.

A new article by CRA’s Life Sciences experts titled “Policy solutions to improve access to fertility treatment and optimise patient care: consensus from an expert forum,” published in Frontiers in Public Health, uncovers the policy challenges shaping access to ART around the world.

Drawing on expert interviews and a global policy forum, the piece highlights how limited recognition of infertility as a disease, financial and cultural barriers, and uneven reimbursement systems restrict access to care. The findings make a compelling case for policymakers to act and redefine infertility not as a social issue, but as a critical public health priority requiring investment and support.
