As required by the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) of 1975 and its implementing Regulation C, financial institutions report residential mortgage lending activity.
The information collected and reported under HMDA covers each mortgage application submitted to and mortgages purchased by the reporting institution and is considered the most comprehensive source of publicly available information on the US mortgage market.
