A CRA expert was retained by a patent pool operator to provide a valuation for its LTE standard essential patent portfolio. A top-down analysis was conducted by estimating the LTE royalty stack and determining the patent pool operator’s share of the royalty stack based on the contributions of each lessor in the patent pool. The valuation was used by the client for the purposes of determining a LTE patent pool royalty rate.
