Christopher J. Palmer

Professor Christopher J. Palmer is a senior consultant in the Finance Practice, with expertise applicable to many different types of matters, including mergers, securities, and complex commercial disputes.
Dr. Palmer has served as an expert before the Delaware Court of Chancery. He is a recognized expert in corporate finance, consumer finance, and banking and can support clients on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters.
Dr. Palmer is an associate professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management where he teaches corporate finance and valuation. His research focuses on how credit, real estate, and labor markets respond to periods of significant upheaval. He is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, an affiliate with the Jameel Poverty Action Lab, and a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School.
Dr. Palmer previously taught real estate finance and securitization at the University of California Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and he was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Banks of Boston, New York, and San Francisco. Prior to graduate school, he consulted with a global economic consulting firm. Dr. Palmer holds a BA in economics and mathematics from Brigham Young University and a PhD in economics from MIT.
