Christopher Russo is a vice president in CRA’s Energy Practice. He combines a robust commercial energy advisory offering with extensive experience as a testifying expert witness in high-stakes litigation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings.
Mr. Russo served as CRA’s Energy Practice Leader from 2012 through 2025, growing the team from six people to over 60 people. His primary focus is now client work.
Mr. Russo has led commercial due diligence engagements on more than 100 different assets in the energy industry, and directed over 100 business strategy engagements. He also served on the Board of Directors of NeuCo, a Boston-based company that provides software to enable AI and neural network control of thermal power plants.
He has testified more than 50 times, and participated in more than 25 depositions and cross-examinations, including numerous international courts. Some proceedings had over $1 billion at stake. He has testified in litigation and regulatory matters on issues regarding economics, planning, operation, economic damages, and manipulation of energy markets.
He formerly held an academic appointment with the MIT Energy Laboratory, and currently holds an academic appointment with Tulane University.
Mr. Russo is routinely listed in legal directories, including Thought Leaders: Global Elite, by Lexology. He is also involved with numerous professional organizations, such as the US and Canadian Energy Bar Associations.
Prior to joining CRA, Mr. Russo was a senior consultant with Cambridge Energy Research Associates in Paris. Before that, he owned an energy consulting firm, as well as worked for ABB Corporate Research in the US and Switzerland.
