Kevin Williams

Kevin Williams is a Professor of Economics at the Yale School of Management and an affiliated faculty member of Yale’s Department of Economics.

As an expert in industrial organization, Professor Williams explores how market structure and competitive forces affect pricing, product availability, and access, with particular attention to differences in outcomes across consumers. He studies industries where these issues are especially prominent, including retail, airlines, and e-commerce.

He is also a research staff member of the Cowles Foundation, a faculty fellow at the Center for Algorithms, Data, and Market Design, and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

His work has been published in leading economics journals such as the American Economic Review, Econometrica, and the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and it has been widely covered in major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, and STAT. He frequently presents his research to policy and enforcement audiences and has experience working closely with firm data relevant to real‑world pricing and competition questions.

Professor Williams received his PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota and has received a teaching award from Yale.
