BCE Inc. retained CRA to assess the competitive effects of Bell’s acquisition of the assets of Astral Media Inc. In a report filed before the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), CRA’s economics expert concluded that taking into account the realities of the Canadian marketplace, Bell will not be able to engage in anticompetitive vertical foreclosure as a result of the transaction. The CRTC approved the transaction with some conditions.
