CRA consultants supported Alliant Energy in a collaborative resource planning effort for its Iowa utility – Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) – to inform IPL’s decision-making as part of the Clean Energy Blueprint to enable the company to best meet its customers’ needs for affordable, reliable, and environmentally sustainable energy. IPL initiated the resource planning process in early 2020 and carried out the analysis in a phased fashion throughout the remainder of the year, engaging with stakeholders, seeking their input, and incorporating their diverse viewpoints along the way for a robust analysis.
In supporting the core quantitative analysis associated with the Clean Energy Blueprint process, CRA partnered with IPL to develop an enhanced resource planning process, using state-of-the-art tools and techniques to measure and evaluate future portfolio alternatives against a range of planning metrics. CRA’s work culminated in the filing of a report with the Iowa Utilities Board.
