Anant Kumar is a principal in CRA’s Energy Practice. As a frequent thought leader and adviser, Mr. Kumar is a recognized expert in market and regulatory due diligence, integrated resource planning, and transmission analysis.
Mr. Kumar provides advisory services to electric utilities and financial investors on power markets, generation and transmission planning, and regulatory issues. He advises clients on diverse engagements including integrated resource planning, T&D planning, asset, and utility transactions, decarbonization strategies, and reliability analysis. He has led utility resource planning engagements in several US states and island nations and directed generation and transmission due diligence engagements for some of the largest investor clients. Mr. Kumar specializes in emerging growth areas of the energy transition including energy storage, generation flexibility, integrated generation, transmission, and distribution planning, electric and gas planning, and hydrogen analysis.
Mr. Kumar has 20 years of economic and management consulting experience in the energy industry. His experience includes client engagement at utility senior and executive levels including CEO, company board, senior management committees, and with private equity and infrastructure fund investment committees, co-investors, and lenders, and engagement in public stakeholder proceedings. He also has utility operating experience in the transmission and distribution planning space with some of the largest US utilities including Entergy, DTE, and LCRA.
Mr. Kumar holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
