Jean-Philippe Poissant

He has supported matters in US state and federal courts, as well as investigations, mediations, and arbitrations. His accounting and financial reporting experience includes matters involving US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). He has also evaluated audit procedures in securities litigation and enforcement matters brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).  

Mr. Poissant has conducted financial and forensic analyses related to alleged fraud, solvency, internal controls, executive stock transactions, and investment management disclosures. His valuation and damages work has included valuing businesses and earn-out provisions, assessing declines in enterprise value, evaluating the liquidation of private investment funds, analyzing alleged breaches of contract, and estimating lost earnings and unjust enrichment.  

He also advises on corporate governance matters, including board decision-making, company policies and governance practices, proxy contests, and executive compensation. He manages multidisciplinary teams and works with multiple experts throughout the litigation process, from pre-litigation investigation through trial.  

Mr. Poissant is a certified public accountant (CPA), certified fraud examiner (CFE), accredited in business valuation (ABV), chartered business valuator (CBV), and Canadian chartered professional accountant.  

He holds an MBA with distinction from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, a Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting from HEC Montréal, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from HEC Montréal. He is fluent in English and French and proficient in Spanish.
