Hana Colwell is an associate principal in CRA’s Energy Practice. She has more than six years of experience in the energy industry and specializes in regulatory strategy, resource planning, market design, and transaction-related analysis across North American electricity markets.

Ms. Colwell advises utilities, policymakers, and private sector clients on complex challenges related to utility regulation, resource adequacy, investment planning, and the evolving electricity market landscape. Her work includes integrated resource planning, capacity market analysis, due diligence, economic impact assessment, and strategic analysis of generation, transmission, and emerging large-load opportunities.

Throughout her career, Ms. Colwell has supported clients facing high-stakes planning, regulatory, and investment decisions in a rapidly changing energy sector. She has worked on matters involving nuclear generation, clean energy deployment, reliability and market benefits, utility planning, and customer and system impacts associated with energy transition policies and infrastructure development. She is known for distilling technical and regulatory complexity into practical, decision-useful insights.

Before joining CRA, Ms. Colwell worked in consulting and market research roles focused on renewable energy, environmental policy, electrification, and economic analysis.

Ms. Colwell holds an MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BS in Resource Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
